Chevrolet’s most affordable vehicle is getting better for 2027. The updated Trax brings more standard safety technology, larger screens, a more premium design and a few practical touches that make daily driving easier.

We have picked out the 10 improvements that matter most and explained what each one means behind the wheel. They fall into four groups: safety, technology, design and everyday practicality. The 2027 Trax is anticipated to arrive at Chevrolet dealers in spring 2027.

Safety Improvements

1. An Upgraded Electrical and Software Architecture

The first improvement sits out of sight. Chevrolet upgraded the electrical and software architecture of the 2027 Trax.

What it means for you: this upgrade is what enables the longer list of standard safety and driver assistance features below.

2. More Than 20 Standard Safety and Driver Assistance Features

Every 2027 Trax will include more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features. The list includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat and Blind Zone Steering Assist.

Chevrolet is adding several features to the standard list for 2027:

  • Reverse Automatic Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Braking
  • Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Side Bicyclist Alert
  • Front Park Assist and Rear Seat Belt Indicator

What it means for you: these features will come standard from the LT up, so every trim shares the same core safety list. They support the driver, who stays responsible for driving safely.

Technology Improvements

3. A Larger Driver Information Centre

The Trax gets a new, larger standard 11-inch-diagonal driver information centre behind the steering wheel.

What it means for you: more room for the information you check most while driving.

4. An 11.3-Inch Infotainment Screen With Google Built-In

The standard infotainment screen measures 11.3 inches diagonally. It runs Google built-in with Gemini compatibility, and an OnStar Basics plan of up to eight years is included.

What it means for you: a large central screen paired with Google’s built-in apps and services.

5. Newly Available OnStar One

OnStar One will be newly available on the Trax and included for 12 months. It brings the full suite of OnStar services, including in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot capability and video streaming.

What it means for you: connected services for passengers and commuters, with the first year included.

Design Improvements

6. A More Premium Exterior

Chevrolet describes the 2027 Trax as having a more premium look and feel. The changes include a new grille, all-LED taillamps and a redesigned liftgate.

What it means for you: a fresher look at both ends of the vehicle.

7. New Wheels and Distinct Trim Details

New wheel designs join the lineup, and each trim gets its own details that reinforce its character:

Trim

Distinct Details

Trax LT

Wheels with a higher-contrast finish for a more urban look

Trax RS

19-inch wheels, the largest available across all trims

Trax ACTIV

Adventure-inspired look with a unique front-end design

What it means for you: each trim looks clearly different, so it is easier to pick the style that suits you.

8. Hexagonal Side Vents and Storm Sky Gray

Inside, distinctive hexagonal side vents give the instrument panel a fresh, modern appearance. The Trax also debuts Storm Sky Gray, an all-new interior colour for the Chevrolet brand with a more natural, earthy tone.

What it means for you: a cabin that looks more current, with a new colour choice.

Practical Improvements

9. A Streamlined Trim Lineup

Chevrolet streamlined the Trax’s trim offerings for 2027. The lineup will be LT, RS and ACTIV.

What it means for you: three clearly defined trims make comparing and choosing quicker.

10. A Power Liftgate for the First Time

A power liftgate will be available on the Trax for the first time.

What it means for you: easier loading when your hands are full of groceries, bags or sports gear.

Why Chevrolet Is Investing in the Trax

Andrew Barker, brand director for Chevrolet Canada, said the Trax and Trailblazer have delivered more than 80,000 vehicles since their debut three years ago, helping support GM’s No. 1 position in the small SUV segment. He said the 2027 updates bring more standard safety, improved technology and a refreshed design.
