2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trim Packages: Which One Is Best For You?

2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trim Packages: Which One Is Best For You?

People who are in the market for a new truck, especially first-time buyers, may be overwhelmed by the choices available. Even if you decide right away that the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the right truck for you, you’ve still got another big choice to make—trims. That’s why we’re going to guide you through the eight Chevrolet Silverado options.

Chevy Silverado Work Truck

The first trim is all about getting the job done, which is why the Work Truck comes standard with a 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine with an option to upgrade to 5.3L EcoTec3 V8. This trim level comes with a standard six-speed automatic transmission, Durabed construction for more durability and space for cargo, and safety features like a rear-view camera. There’s even a teen driver feature that records the driving activity and submits a report card so that you can see how your family’s new drivers perform on the road and where they may need improvements.
Towing Capacity:
4.3L EcoTec V6: 4,445kgs (9,800lbs)
5.3L EcoTec V8: 5,216kgs (11,500lbs)

Chevy Silverado Custom

Chevrolet Silverado trim comparisons start to become more evident once we step up to the Silverado Custom. One thing that separates the Custom from the Work Truck is the addition of LED tail lamps. The Custom also has the same engines and towing capacity that the Work Truck has.

Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss

The Chevrolet Silverado trim packages next move up with more power. The Custom Trail Boss is only available with 4WD. With a name like Trail Boss, you know what this is designed for. It comes with a few extra convenience features like hill descent control, hitch guidance, and skid plates. It has the same engine options and towing capacity as the Work Truck and Custom.

Chevy Silverado LT

The Silverado LT comes in either 2WD or 4WD. The LT model comes standard with a 2.7L turbo engine, a 4.2" full-colour driver information centre screen, a compass, multiple USB ports, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability. It also comes with an automatic stop/start and 8-speed automatic transmission.

Engine and Towing Capacity:
2.7L Turbo Engine: 5,216kgs (11,500lbs)

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST

Chevy Silverado RST

The RST has the same 2.7L Turbo engine as the LT, but sets itself apart with features such as lighting with a fully-lit LED cargo bed, headlamps, taillamps, and fog lights. Convenience features like a 12-volt rear power outlet and an all-season spare tire are included as standard. The tailgate is equipped with an EZ-Lift Assist and power lock and release. So, there’s no more fussing with locking and opening the tailgate manually, or lowering and raising it when you’ve got your hands full.

Like the Custom Trail Boss, the LT Trail Boss is only available in 4WD. The biggest difference with lower trim levels is that the LT Trail Boss comes with a Z71 suspension and 2” factory lift as a standard part of the truck. An automatic locking rear differential is another differentiator of this trim level. It comes with a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine with Dynamic Fuel Management. This trim is geared towards professional or recreational off-roading needs, and comes with the same 5.3L EcoTec V8 as the Work Truck.

Chevy Silverado LTZ

Chevy Silverado LTZ

Comfort is the name of the game with the LTZ. It has standard premium features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, seats trimmed with perforated leather, and an advanced trailer-towing system. People who plan to frequently tow trailers will appreciate extra features like hitch guidance, hitch view, and an integrated trailer brake controller. Dual-zone climate control, HD radio, and a rear-view camera add to the convenience.

Towing Capacity:
5.3L EcoTec V8: 5,216kgs (11,500lbs)
6.2L EcoTec V8: 5,533kgs (12,200lbs)

Chevy Silverado High Country

The High Country is the top-end of Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim packages and has all the bells and whistles. Power up and down tailgate is standard here, as is a dual-outlet exhaust. It also has the biggest standard digital driver information centre screen at 8”, plus front and rear park assist. For the driver and front passenger, front bucket seats are complemented by carpeted floor mats. Driving is made safer with blind-spot and cross-traffic alerts built-in. You even get additional storage and a universal home remote included in the High Country deal. It has the same engines and towing capacity that the LTZ has.

As always, the right Silverado for you will depend on what you need it for. If you're relying on a truck for work, hauling capacity may be more important. But if you’re going off-road a lot, you’ll want something ready to hit the trail. Let us help you find the best option!
